EDWARD BRYANT TIPPIT was born on 7 September 1886 in Sherman, Grayson County, Texas to Howard Cornelius Tippit & Martha "Mattie" Elizabeth O'Neal-Tippit.

Bryant was quite a large fellow standing 6 feet 7 inches & weighing 275 lbs. He had brown eyes, brown hair, and a sear mark on his left forearm. Bryant was an auto mechanic in a wrecking yard.

He first married Ethel Bradley on 12 July 1911 in San Augustine County, Texas, and they had ONE daughter:

Opal Tippet-Edwards-Cochran-Brammer (b. 08 Jan 1913 in Crockett, Houston County, Texas - died 13 April 1995 in Monterey County, California).

His second marriage was to Nora (Sexton)Bolton, who is listed as a family contact on his 1918 WWI Draft Registration Card, and they are residing in Idabel, McCurtain County, Oklahoma.

By the 1930 Census, Bryant is living in Houston County, Texas, and married Hester (Unknown) in 1928.

Bryant passed away on 26 July 1950 in Aransas Pass, San Patricio County, Texas, and he was laid to rest there at Prairie View Cemetery.

"EDWARD TIPPIT
ARANSAS PASS -- Funeral Services for Edward Tippit, 63, will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the Cage Funeral Chapel and burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery.

Tippit died at his residence here about 4 pm Wednesday after a long illness. He had been a resident of Aransas Pass for the past 12 years and was the owner of a wrecking yard. He belonged to the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs Opal Cockron of Salinas, (Monterey County), California; and one sister, Mrs Mary Shakford of Rush Springs, (Grady County), Oklahoma."

(CORRECTIONS: Mrs Mary Mayrant of Rush Springs was his sister, and Ruby Pearl Mayrant-Shackelford was his niece who were both living in 1950. Edward had a daughter in 1913 that was not named on her birth certificate who may be the Opal Cochran named in this obituary).
