From a history written by son, Harvey Eugene Tidball in 1938 (found on familysearch.org):

My father was born on a small farm August 17, 1892 in Provo, Utah. He was the son of William Tidball and Sarah Goodman, who had six children and they had four more after their marriage. When he was ten years old his father was killed in a mine leaving them to take care of the farm. He came to Ely, Nevada in 1908 when he was 16 years old and worked delivering for a drug store. He and his brother, Guy, bought a building in Ruth and made it into a store when they were young men. The one store became a chain of three and they have developed a large business.

Samuel married Gladys Morgan on August 7, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They became parents to Harvey Eugene. Gladys had a daughter, Louise, from a previous marriage. They later divorced.

Samuel then married Marguerite Roark on December 8, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
