Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorothy Lee Airhart Brechtel will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, July 16, 2017, in The Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, with Dr. Cliff Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be observed at the funeral home on Saturday, July 15, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and resume on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Dorothy Lee Airhart Brechtel, 90, of Alexandria, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
Dorothy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, Board Member of Cenla Federal Credit Union and member of the Christian Women’s Club. Dorothy worked as an Administrator and Teacher in the Public School System, retiring after many years of service. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amanda McKnight; parents, Lloyd and Jessie Kirby Airhart; brothers, Lavergne, Bill, L. G., Tom, John and sisters, Madeline Pursley, Modenia Ralphs and Dona McAtee.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Kenneth James Brechtel, Sr., daughters, Brenda Brechtel and Frieda McKnight and husband, Fred; grandchildren, Alana Gaspard, Mark McKnight (Janie), Jennifer Theriot (Cody), Sadie Ambrose (Colt) and Kenneth Brechtel, Jr.; great grandchildren, Nicholas and Nate McKnight, Jackson Buhr and Lilly Kate Theriot and a host of other family members and friends.
