Dow’s father Ebenezer Pearce passed away in 1921 when Dow was ten years old. His mother remarried a widower and all lived in the McIntosh and Pittsburg County of Oklahoma areas. Dow married Venita Marie Andersen (1912-1976) about 1932 in Oklahoma, United States. The following year they had a daughter together Freda Katherine Pearce (1933-2008). The family left Oklahoma to California about 1939 in hopes of seeking better jobs. Dow was a sharecropper. Dow and Venita had no more children together. Later Venita would divorce Dow and remarry according to family members. Dow lived around the Fresno County, California areas until his death. According to his sister, he fathered another daughter and a son. He passed away February 10, 1968 in Selma, Fresno County, California, United States. He is buried at the Floral Memorial Park Cemetery in Selma, Fresno County, California.
