Obituary of Phyllis Ayers

Phyllis A. Ayers, age 68, of Beaver Dams, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital with family by her side.

Phyllis was born on November 28, 1948 in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Alonzo and the late Theo (Easling) Randall. 

She was a graduate of Corning West High School, class of 1967. She married Robert M. Ayers in August of 1971. 

She was employed by the Bradford Central School District as a kitchen aide in the cafeteria, retiring with 15 years of service.

Phyllis will be remembered for her love of sports, watching all kinds of sports on television - specifically the New York Yankees and Nascar. She would often take trips with her family to various campgrounds and beaches – visiting Ocean City and Myrtle Beach. When home, she was known to feed and watch the birds around her home and loved to storm watch. She also loved gambling – taking many trips with her family to Salamanca and other casinos.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years: Robert M. Ayers; son, Joel (Paula) Ayers of Campbell, NY; daughter,  Amanda (Jeff) Coon of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren: Calvin, Connor and Carter Ayers; sister, Mary (Joe) Kilmer of Buffalo, NY; sister-in-law, Rose Randall of Corning, NY; several brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her sister, Paula Orr; brothers: Jim Randall and Bill Randall; and sister-in-law, Barb Randall.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 2:00pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery, Painted Post, NY at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’ name may be made to the Bradford Volunteer Fire Department, Main Street, Bradford, NY 14815.
