TILDEN — Services for Milan “Mike” Magwire, 97, of Tilden will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 14, at Peace United Church of Christ in Tilden. The Rev. Theta Dame will officiate with burial in Tilden City Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7603, American Legion Post 170 and American Legion Riders.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden.
He died Monday, July 10, 2017, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 170 of Tilden.

Mike was born Aug. 4, 1919, the third of 10 children born to Vester H. and Alma (Matzen) Magwire in a little two-story house on a farm eight miles south and four west of Tilden. Milan was baptized and confirmed at Buffalo Creek Church.
He was married to Mildred “Millie” Paulsen on May 2, 1948, in Neligh. The coupled lived in Tilden their entire life. Mike was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, serving on the church board. He also served on the Tilden School Board and was president, was a volunteer fireman and fire chief, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a lifetime member of American Legion Post 170 and helped with the summer Scouts program for several years. Mike was a recipient of the Good Neighbor Award and the Outstanding Citizen Award.
Milan is survived by his two children, Patricia Magwire of Tilden and Donnie (Rhonda) Magwire of Columbus; two grandsons, Ryan (Katie) of Prosper, Texas, and Tanner (Lindsey) Magwire of Tilden; two great-grandchildren, Kashton and Hadley Magwire of Prosper; two brothers, John “Jack” (Maxine) Magwire and Dean (Collette) Magwire, all of Lincoln; two sisters, Margret “Shug” Paulsen of O’Neill and Irene Martin of Neligh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse Millie; sisters Florence, Ruth, Marian and Euna; and a brother, Raymond.
Pallbearers are Ryan Magwire, Tanner Magwire, Ronn Qualset, Jerry Martin, Mark Magwire, Gene Magwire, Terry Paulsen, Randy Gard, Ted Griess and Larry Dittrich.
