WARREN, Anne Marie, 68, retired registered nurse, of Georgetown died Wednesday. Visitation 6 p.m. today, the Gabriels Funeral Chapel, Georgetown. Services 2 p.m. Saturday, the Gabriels. Burial I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Georgetown. [Published in the Austin American-Statesman on 3/2/2007.]

Anne Marie Warren, 68, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at Kingwood Medical Center in Kingwood.

She was born October 28, 1939, in Kansas, to Audrey Marie (Drew) and Frank Brown Strickland.

Upon graduation from Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, she entered the military proudly serving her country in the Army Nurse Corps as a Second Lieutenant. While stationed at Ford Ord, California, she met and later married her husband, Lt. Richard Mason Warren. She continued her career as an Army Nurse for two years, before leaving the military to start a family and to suiport her husband's military career.

She later earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from American Technological University while stationed at Fort Hood earning a place in Who's Who Among College Students.

In 1981, her husband by than a retired Lt. Colonel, passed away suddently in Georgetown, leaving Anne to raise her two beloved teenage daughters on her own. She was tenacious and worked courageously to ensure the best benefits and education for her dauthters after the passing of her husband.

Anne was active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 8587, was a 50 year member of the Order Of The Eastern Star, and was a member of the Chisholm Trail Elks Lodge 2569, proudly as the Chaplin of her chapter. She loved her special group of friends there.

Anne is survived by her daughter, Karen Anne Warren Soule and her husband Robert Soule of Houston, and Donna Marie Margiolos and husband Ken Margholos; grandchildren, Brittany Jane Margiolos, Michael Warren Margiolos, Emily Meagn Margiolos and Sarah Marie Margiolos; brothers, James Lee Strickland and Franklin Ray Strickland and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the special group of caregivers at Eden Terrace of Kingwood. The Staff worked heard to make her last months comfortable.

Visitation was to held on Friday, March 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dan Woodbridge of Crestview Baptist Church officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at I.O.O.F Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the student scholarship fund in memory of Anne at Crestview Baptist Church.
