Alvin "Al" Lee Jones
(1929 - 2017)
Alvin Lee "Al" Jones, 88, of Friendswood, Texas passed away on July 8, 2017. He was born on June 21, 1929 in Durant, Oklahoma to Wesley T. and Lila Mae Jones. Al married Vernell Wooten in 1946 and they were happily married for almost 71 years. Al and Vernell moved to Houston in 1950. He was a painting contractor until he retired in 2000. He was a member of Life Tabernacle, where he served the church and people he loved so dearly. He was a Board Member and an usher for many years. Al loved traveling, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He loved deeply, forgave easily, and always shored a true spirit of kindness! Al leaves behind a legacy of how to live for the Lord your entire life, love your wife, and teach your children how to do the same. He will be greatly missed, but we will see him again in Heaven. Al is survived by his loving wife Vernell, son Mark (Sandra) Jones and daughter Marsha (James) Twentier. He also was the cherished "Pappy" to nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. He was also the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by daughter Suzanne Denise on January 25, 2004. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Life Church, 9901 Windmill Lakes Blvd. in Houston, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm.
