Godfrey, or Godfrit, Keller was born before 1790 near Broad River in Columbia, Richland, SC to Peter Keller. Godfrey sold his land in SC and moved to Jefferson County, GA, where he stayed for the remainder of his life.

He served in Felder's Battalion Artillery, SC Militia, in the War of 1812.

In 1815, Godfrey Keller married Susannah Harrell in Jefferson County, GA.

In 1848, Godfrey recorded a Will mentioning his wife Susannah (nee Harrell) and their children:
Betsy Keller Cook (wife of Benjamin Cook)
Edney Keller
Isaac Keller
John Keller
Sarah keller

He named executors as his wife and "James Harrell of Upson County."

When he died in 1849, the executors and administrators of his Estate were Thomas Hannah, Isaac B. Keller, John Samples, and William F. Hannah. Chief executors were Thomas Hannah and Isaac B. Keller.

It is likely he was buried on his Estate and his marker has yet to be found. (2017)
