Elaine Dredge Mills
May 23, 1923 - February 10, 2014
On Monday, February 10, 2014, Elaine Dredge Mills, 90, ended her mortal journey and passed through the veil to join her eternal sweetheart and beloved family. She was born in Malad, Idaho, as the fourteenth of fifteen children to Jesse H. Dredge and Nellie Kay Kunz on May 28, 1923. She married Rosell Mills in the Logan Temple on July 19, 1945. Rosell passed away in 2006, after 61 years
of marriage.
Elaine served a mission as a young woman to the Southern States Mission. In 1978, she and Rosell served a mission in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission. They had a great love for missionary work and passed that love onto their family. They were always pleased that all seventeen grandsons and one granddaughter served honorable missions.
Elaine is known by her family and friends as being one who knows how to work hard, serve others, and be an example for good. She was a woman of great faith and seemed to have a close connection with heaven. Family members were always asking her to pray for them. We always knew that if she were praying for us, everything would work out.
Her family especially enjoyed her sense of humor - she kept any conversation lively and fun. She was very connected with what was going on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She knew each one individually by name. She always remembered their birthdays and other special occasions with a phone call. This was just one of many things she did to make all of them feel special. You could always count on her for a listening ear and some wise advice.
In every way, Elaine was a great example of a true follower of Christ. Without doubt, the greatest legacy she has left her family is the example of how one endures to the end true and faithful.
She is survived by her five children, David Rex (Elaine) Mills, Julie Atkinson, Peggy (Steve) Taylor, Mary Sue (Ron) Gubler, Kathryn (Ken) Schmidt, 29 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, one sister, Norma Hill, and sister-in-law, Jeannine Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 14 brothers and sisters, her husband, Rosell Mills, son-in-law, Mac Atkinson, and grandchildren, Jeffery Taylor, and Sherrie Mills.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 15, 2013 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel. Friends may visit with the Mills family on Friday evening from 6-7:30 pm at the Horsley Funeral home 132 W. 300 N. and on Saturday at the funeral home prior to services from 10:00-11:30a.m. Condolences may be sent to www.horsleyfunerlhome.com
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.
