When someone with an engaging presence, strong will, and such a powerful life force is taken away, the loss is overwhelming. Family and friends of Mrs. Joyce Lee (Raley) Hubbard, 74, of Dawson will find it difficult to accept her passing on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the Providence Health Center in Waco. In honor of her life, funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, at First Baptist Church of Dawson with the Rev. Brian Robertson and the Rev. Mickey Loftis officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard. The eldest of five, Joyce was born on March 23, 1932, at Brushie Prairie to Roy and Carrie Mae (Berry) Raley. A life-long resident of Navarro County, she grew up in Brushie Prairie and Dawson attending school at Alliance Hall, Frost and Dawson. As a teenager, she worked at Oleatha Davis's Beauty Shop. In 1950, she graduated from Dawson High School. Two years later, on Feb. 29, a leap year, with commitment to him and faith that he could do whatever he attempted, she married Billy Dwayne "B.D." Hubbard. They formed a lasting marriage as well as a business partnership, owning and operating Hubbard's Service Station and car lot. Thursday, March 1 would have been their 55th wedding anniversary. Survivors include her husband, Billy Dwayne "B.D." Hubbard of Dawson; daughter, Brenda Guillory and husband, Micah of Houston; two sisters, Nell Darden and husband, Glen of Bowie, and Linda Hodge and husband, Darryl of Streetman; two brothers, Donald Raley and wife, Anita, of Dawson, and Joe Raley of Kountze; and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be G.C. Younger, Ray Rogers, Darryl Rogers, Walker Lea, Doug Lenox, Roy Darden and Eddie Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will be Darryl Hodge, Glen Darden, B.L.
