Mrs. South was born September 7, 1930 in Ashe County to James and Pearl Jones Barker.
Mrs. South was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willard Wayne South, brothers, Howard, Lake and Fred Barker, sisters, Pauline Barker, Ellinor Testerman, Reba Benson and Eula Brooks.
Mrs. South was a member of Bristol Baptist Church. She loved working in the yard and collecting red birds and baskets.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kenneth Barr. Burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mrs. South is survived by: Daughter, Claudine Brown of Glade Valley, NC, Grandson, Trevor Nunn and fiancée Kendall McDaniel of West Jefferson, Niece, Janet Lynn Miller whom she thought of as a daughter, of Jefferson also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
