Lewis Turner (“L.T.”) Baker, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2017. L.T. was born August 1, 1929, in Gibsland, Louisiana to Nora Anderson Baker and Lewis Turner Baker, Sr. He graduated Centenary College where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. With his degree in accounting, L.T. began working for Meriwether Supply Company. He married Betty Virginia Willis November 8, 1952, and they had three children. When Meriwether was purchased by Gifford-Hill and Company in 1965, he was promoted to credit manager with the new company and moved his family to Dallas, Texas. L.T. was a leader in the National Association of Credit Managers and travelled extensively in this role throughout his career.

He enjoyed traveling with his family and discovering new places and things. He and Betty built a house on Lake Grapevine where he enjoyed gardening and shared this pursuit with the community. He retired in 1995.

He had a sister named Dorothy Ellen Baker (1926-1938).

He is survived by his children, Lewis, Susan, and Andy; and by his four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Stilmon, John and Will.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Rose-Neath’s Funeral Home Chapel, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana, on Saturday, July 8, 2017. General visitation will be from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. prior to the service.
