Pastor Jerry Donald Bolinger, 81, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family following a two-week-bout with leukemia. He was born in Clay County, Feb. 14, 1936, the son of Isaac Bolinger and Thelma(Stoops) Bolinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gwendolyn Jane Bolinger; a granddaughter, Angela Marie Cano; and a son-in-law, Harold Beard.
Jerry was a pastor at Sullivan Full Gospel Church for 25 years, he was a U.S. Army veteran, and worked his lifetime in home improvement and renovation industry. He pursued the study of homeopathic medicine and reflexology. He had a real passion for reading, fishing, and hunting. He loved meeting people and learning about their life. His greatest passion was giving Glory to God as he is doing in Eternity.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Cochran; daughters, Marlena Cano (Terry) of Poplar, Calif., Trudy Jensen (Mark) of Clovis Calif., Candis Oswalt (Jerry) of South Bend, Hope Beard of Terre Haute, Missy Rehmel (Kevin) of Lewis and Patty House (Vincent) of Jasonville; two sisters, June Wilkins and Gail Wasnidge (Jerry), all of Jasonville; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday July 8, 2017, at Brust Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow in the K of P Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera Legion Posts and the Sullivan VFW Post. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today.
