Doretta E. Stevenson, 82 passed away Friday July 4, 2003 in Bellingham. She was born in Sullivan Station, B.C. on November 26, 1920 to Jean and Jeremiah Sullivan.
She attended nursing school in New Westminster, B.C. before marrying Robert Stevenson in 1945. They settled in Bellingham where they lived their entire married life. She worked at WWSC for a number of years after her children were grown. Doretta loved painting and was a talented artist. She and her husband spent many happy years traveling extensively in their retirement. They had a truly extraordinary marriage. Her husband of 56 years died in 2001.
Doretta is survived by her two sons and one daughter. Robert Stevenson of Marysville Randall Stevenson and Theresa Buckley and husband Pat, all of Bellingham. She has nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Of her 13 siblings five sisters and two brothers live in Washington and B.C. She will be remembered for her remarkable attitude and the strength she personified to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was an exceptional woman, wife and mother and she will be missed. The family would appreciate memorials made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption Catholic Church 11 AM Wednesday, July 9, 2003 followed by burial at Bayview Cemetery.
