Louise E. Baine, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Calais Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Louise was born in Eastport on February 20, 1930, to David and Flora (Tinker) Blanchard.

She was orphaned at the age of 12, left to be raised by her cousin Alice Tinker. Louise graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1949. After graduating high school, she married her loving husband of 43 years, Buddy Baine. Together they raised three children and enjoyed eight grandchildren. After Buddy’s death in 1992, Louise went on to enjoy 18 great-grandchildren who she adored.

Louise worked at Holmes Packing Co. on the sealing machine for many years, Jacobson’s Wreath business, and at Harris Point Cabins until her retirement in 1986.

Louise loved people of all ages, and any type of animal. She enjoyed coloring her velvet posters, and going out to eat with the “Q-Tip Coffee Crowd”.

In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her husband John “Buddy” Baine; brothers Teeny and Hiram Blanchard; and a sister, Gerry White. Surviving are her three children, Sharon Cook and husband Mark of Eastport, Mike Baine and companion Sherri Camick of Perry, and Cindy Baine and companion Ray Moore of Eastport; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The children wish to express their sincere appreciation to the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home staff and Calais Regional Hospital doctors and staff for the excellent care shown to Louise.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louise’s memory may be made to Eastport Memorial Nursing Home, 23 Boynton St., Eastport, ME 04631, PAWS Bravehearts, 368 South St., Calais, ME 04619, or a charity of one’s choice.
