Merle Wilson Amos, 90, of Aurora died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in Ozark Mountain Regional Healthcare Center at Crane following a long illness. She was born April 30, 1912, in Spoke to Leslie Glen and Myrtle Turner Wilson. On Dec. 23, 1934, she was united in marriage to Roger Amos. Together they farmed and made a home for their family. She taught school, beginning her career at Chestnut Ridge School in 1931. She later received her master's degree in education and retired as teacher of the fourth grade in Branson Public Schools with 37 years of service to public schools. She also quilted. Survivors include her husband, Roger; three children and their spouses, Jim and Janie Amos, Spokane, Glendene Jenkins, Crane, and Barbara and John McAntire, Willard; a sister, Hazel Holt, Reeds Spring; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Stewart and Stella Yeager; a brother, Clell Wilson; and a son-in-law, Bill Jenkins. Graveside services were Aug. 26 at Spokane Cemetery, Spokane, with the Rev. Tommy Bilyeu officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
