Services for Civil War Veteran Will Be Held Wednesday From Salvation Army Citadel - Funeral services for William P. Hope, 78 years old, Civil war veteran, who died at his home, 1445 North Twenty-first street at 9 o'clock Monday morning after a long illness, will be held from the Salvation army citadel, North Seventh, and A streets, at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. W. E. Graham, commandant of the local post of the Salvation army, will officiate at the services: Burial will be in the National cemetery. Hope was an active member of the Salvation army and served in its ranks for 27 years during the more than 30 years of his residence in Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Cora Nell Hope; three sons, Will Hope of Denver, Colo., John S. Hope and Tom Y. Hope of Fort Smith; and two daughters Mrs. J. M. Birdsong of Jonesboro, Ark., and Mrs. S. W. Horton of Honolulu. Hope served in the Union army during the Civil war and was a member of the local post of the Grand Army Republic. He also was a member of the Fort Smith order of the Goodfellows organization. The body will remain at the Fentress chapel until the funeral hour when it will be removed to the citadel.
