A native of Henderson County, TN, he had lived here since childhood. His father and mother were the late Ervin Lee and Mary Lou Evans King.
A 1965 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, he worked as a house painter for 46 years with David Hampton and then with David Holmes. On Monday, February 26, 1968, he married Marie Harrigan King, who survives. He was a volunteer for the Toone Fire Department for many years, attended Maple Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching westerns in his leisure time.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter, his two sons, two sisters, one brother, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren and "one on the way".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Wayne and J. W. King.
