John graduated from Auburn High School and attended Washburn University in Topeka, KS. He served in the Army Reserves for 6 years. John was employed as a Manufacturing Forman for Diversified Plastics where he retired after 21 years. Prior to that he was a Dairy and Crop Farmer. John had a love of music. He started playing instruments in his teen years and could play the accordion, guitar, and the piano. John also enjoyed wood working and stamp collecting.
Survivors include one daughter: Susan Malm Wells (Steve) of Columbia, MO; two brothers: Gerhard Malm and Richard Malm both of Valley Falls, KS; daughter-in-law: Sheri Malm of Columbia, MO; step-grandson: Steven DeVore and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons: John L Malm and Thomas Malm and his former wife of over 20 years Vera K Culbertson-Malm.
Friends and Family will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Parker-Millard Funeral Service located at 12 E. Ash Street. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Dripping Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Dripping Springs Cemetery Fund.
