DOVER Anna M. (Shaffer) Meyers, 85, passed away peacefully at 6:55 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2007, at Manor Care North, York. She was the loving wife of Burnell S. "Barney" Meyers, to whom she was married for more than 65 years. Anna recently celebrated her 85th birthday on Sunday prior to her passing. Mrs. Meyers will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity (Roth's) Church Cemetery, 6417 Church Rd., Spring Grove, with a service to celebrate her life to follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity Roth's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Anna was born on February 25, 1922, in York, a daughter of the late Harrison M. and Annie M. (Lefever) Shaffer. For more than 30 years, Anna enjoyed raising sheep and chickens with her husband on their Thomasville farm. She retired in 1964 from Dentsply in York and was also employed for nine years as an inspector for Danskin Hosiery. She was a 1940 graduate of William Penn High School in York. In addition to her husband, "Barney," Anna will be sadly missed by her daughter, Patsy Ann Reed and her husband, Lloyd of Elizabethtown; her grandson, Andrew B. Reed, also of Elizabethtown; two greatgrandchildren, Allen McMillan and Charlotte Ann Reed; and a sister, Myrtle Cox of York. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Schmuck; and two brothers, Roy and Earl Shaffer.
