Roy Franklin Grigsby, Jr., age 61, of Springfield, passed away at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his home after an illness. He was born in Lebanon, Kentucky on March 5, 1956 to Roy Franklin, Sr. and Jean Ross Grigsby. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, a former employee of the Standard Commercial Tobacco Company, Springfield Redrying Company and spent most of his working career at Robintech Plastic Pipe Company.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy F. Grigsby, Sr. on December 21, 1989; a sister, Beverly Spalding on March 24, 2017; three brothers, Billy Grigsby on February 16, 1999, Wayne Washburn on June 21,1974 and Eddie Washburn on April 21, 2007.

Survivors include: his wife, Celesta Murphy Grigsby; a son, Roy F. Grigsby, III; a daughter, Megan Grigsby; three grandchildren, Roy F. Grigsby, IV, Darren Grigsby and Dixie Grigsby; his mother, Jean Grigsby; two sisters, Betty Weakley and Deloris Smith (Kenny) all of Springfield; and two brothers, Calvin Grigsby (Alice) of Mt. Washington and Larry Washburn (Phyllis) of Chaplin.

Funeral services will held at 4 p.m., Monday, July 3, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Sparrow, pastor of the Wakefield Baptist Church, officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Johnnie Bailey, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Glen Weakley, Allen Spalding, Tony Grigsby, Jesse Smith, Matthew Lewis, Frank Hood and Ryan Bishop. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday morning. Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
