Abner Ross was born on August 5, 1925 in Blanco, Texas and passed away on June 25, 2017 with his family by his side. He was a graduate of Blanco High School and served in the Pacific Region during WWII where he received a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. After serving in WWII he was a Salesman for Walter Tips Company and Wyeth of Texas. Abner was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Perfect Union Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Alzafar Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Hess Ross, brother Porter Everett Ross, mother Robbie Alice Wier, and father Melvin Grafton Ross. Abner is survived by children Dr. Linda Lee Williams (Frank) and Larry Douglass Ross, grandchildren Tabitha Lynn Williams and Stephanie Williams Huth (William), and great grandchildren Tyler, Jayden, and Dallas.
Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service on July 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Mission Park North Cemetery. A memorial service and reception will follow at St. Mark United Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Alzafar Shrine Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
