Dorance A. "Doc" Burnaugh, 79, of Gilson Route 2, died Friday, 28 Feb 1986, at 8:30 pm in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born in Gilson on 16 Dec 1906, the son of Albert and Mary Elizabeth (Hale) Burnaugh. He married Opal McCoy in Tremont on 14 Feb 1931.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Joyce Cecil and Marilee Allen, both of Knoxville, five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was reared and educated in Gilson, and lived all his life in the community, where he farmed. He was a trustee on the Gilson Cemetery Board, a former member of the Gilson Volunteer Fire Department, and drove a school bus for the former Gilson High School.
Funeral services were held at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, with Rev. James Vancil officiating. Burial was in Gilson Cemetery.
