Jean Margaret Turner Chandler, 92, of Bridgewater, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Bridgewater Home.

She was born in Broadway on October 22, 1924, and was a daughter of the late Layman Benjamin and Mary (Trumbo) Turner, and was raised by her grandparents, Zack A. and Daisy Layman Turner.

Jean retired from Red Front. She was a graduate of Broadway High School, class of 1941.

She was united in marriage on May 16, 1946 to Bernard Harris "Bunny" Chandler, who preceded her in death on January 14, 2000.

She is survived by three children, Marla D. Cook and husband Tom, of Bridgewater, Robert G. "Bob" Chandler and wife Dianna, of Port Republic, and Steven D. "Steve" Chandler and wife Robin, of Dayton; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Chandler of Singers Glen. Nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Chandler, a grandson, Edward Lee Shifflett, and a sister, Mary Good.

A graveside service will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 3, 2017 with Pastor Marlene Chandler officiating. The casket will be closed.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the home of her son Bob Chandler, 8570 Main Street, Port Republic, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clover Hill Fire & Rescue, 2100 Clover Hill Rd., Dayton, VA 22821 or Bridgewater Home, 302 N. Second St., Bridgewater, VA 22812.
