Ethel Gallaher, 85, of Powell, TN, made the transition from this life to eternity on June 28, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center Oak Ridge, surrounded by her loving family.

Ethel, better known as “Ms. Tootsie,” was a Church Mother at Haven’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where she also worked in the kitchen, sang in the choir and was a member of the Women’s Society.

Ms. Tootsie loved to sing, especially Gospel. Two of her favorite songs were “This Little Light of Mine” and Jesus Loved the Little Children.

” She had a bright Green Thumb, which was seen in her love of gardening!!!

With her passing Ethel will be reunited with her parents, Remus & Mary Magdalene Gallaher; her husband James “Jack” Hill; three of her children, Glenna Ruth, Annie Lee Griffith, and James Arthur; two grandchildren, Lisa and Deion “DeeDee” Griffin; her great-grand daughter Jazlynn; brothers Johnny, Remus, Andrew, Glen. Fred, and JB; and her sister Mary Elizabeth aka “Sister”.

Ms. Tootsie leaves to cherish her memories her children and their spouses Eugene & Mattie Gallaher, Georgia Lee & George Reed, Jacqueline Hill, Ronnie Hill, James Edward Hill, and Willie Mae & Leonard Butler; her sister Emma Kline; her Aunt Minnie; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, cousins and many other family and friends.

Her body will lie in state for visitation from 1pm – 2pm on Saturday July 1, 2017 with a service at 2pm at Haven’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 220 Raccoon Valley Rd, Powell, TN, 37849. Rev. Peter D. Kenny will be officiating and Pastor Leah Burns with deliver the Eulogy.

The interment will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens; 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN 37849.

The family would like to thank the staff at Briarcliff Nursing Home and at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge for their love and care to Ms. Tootsie.
