Eleazar Hardeman Craig joined the Confederate 10th TN Calvary (Co. C) in Oct 1862 until March 1864 when he was captured near Morristown TN. When captured he was given the choice of being sent to the Yankee prison in Rock Island, IL or signing the oath and be allowed to return home.He signed the "oath of allegiance" and was allowed to return home to Linden, TN. Before the war he was the father of 3 childern. When he returned from the war he fathered 11 more chldren by Magaret Greer Craig and 5 by his second wife Nancy E. Trull Craig. A lot of folks probably owe their very existance to EH Craig's decision to return home.
