Before Mrs. Colie died in 1925, she wrote

"Abel Stelle was born in Piscataway, Middlesex Co, NJ Died on the 4th of November 1829....the said Christian Stelle was the daughter of Abel Stelle, born 1748, died Nov. 4th 1829, and his wife Sarah Dunham, born 1750, died Feb. 2, 1787, married 1770."

"Abel Stelle was a private from Middlesex County, NJ. He was in the state troops, or Militia, during the war of the Revolution, See page 767 Official Register of Officers and Men of New Jersey, in the Revolutionary War, by Adgt. General William J. Stryker, Trenton, NJ 1872."

"Abel Stelle was buried in a small private burial ground on what is now known as the "Thompson Farm" near Stelton, NJ on the Philadelphia Turnpike, between New Brunswick and Piscataway."

1st wife - Abel married in 1770 to Sarah Dunham
(D.A.R. record 1750-1787)

2nd wife - Abel married to Mrs. Providence Webster.

Abel died in 1829 in his 81st year and is buried in Union Cemetery, NJ Nov.4, 1829
