THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, May 3, 1970: CLARKSVILLE - John Lewis Strain, 77, a retired Giner of Detroit, died of illness here Saturday at 6;25 a.m. in Red River County Hospital.
Born in Fulbright, Dec 16, 1892, he was a son of John and Sally (Davis) Strain, and was a member f the Christian Church at Detroit.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 2 P.M. at Clarksville Funeral Home by the Rev. Authur Grimes and the Rev. Bob Bryan, internment to be made at Detroit.
Mr. Strain leaves three sons: C.B. Strain, Redding Calif; Joe Strain, Yreka., and John L. Strain Jr., Dallas; nine other descendants; a sister, Mrs Alice Rose Huntington, S.T. Strain, Swink, Okla, and Jim Strain, Bogata.
(Choctaw County, Oklahoma Census shows John Lewis was born in Arkansas, not Bowie County, TX.)
