Dennis was born September 9, 1932, in Berkeley county, a son of Pinckney Adkins and Bertha Clark Adkins.
A member of Carnes Crossroads Church of God, Dennis was a retired heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling to the mountains with his family and spinning tall tales and stories.
Surviving are two daughters- Judy Adkins Craven and Eddie Owans of Moncks Corner; Bertie Adkins Wiggins and her husband Gene of Moncks Corner; ten grandchildren- Larry Lee Driggers, Marissa Knight, Christopher Adkins, Missy Goodman, Trey Wiggins and Victoria Garred; 21 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son- Steven Clyde Adkins, Sr.; a granddaughter- Taylor Wiggins; brothers- Gordon, Harvey and Thomas Adkins; a sister- Gussie Lee Murray.
