Visitation is planned for Friday, October 27, from 6-8:00 p.m., at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, at 10:00 a.m., at the Clear Lake Regular Baptist Church, with Pastor Steven Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Swaledale.

Edwin Earl Crabb, 81, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday Oct. 24, 2000 at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Clear Lake Regular Baptist Church, Pastor Steven Cox officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Swaledale.
He was born July 5, 1919, in Sheffield to Edwin F. and Bernice May (Bardsley) Crabb. He graduated from Mason City High School and then attended Hamilton Business College. He moved to California following college where he enlisted in the US Army during WWII. He served in the 9th Infantry Division in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal, Purple Heart Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster for being wounded in France, European African Middle Eastern, WWII Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He married Patricia Broadbent, and then married Jean Hayes in 1954, who later died of cancer. Following the service he worked at IBM in California as an accountant until his retirement, when he moved back to Clear Lake. He married Virginia (Illingworth) Holden on Feb. 14, 1980 at the Regular Baptist Church in Clear Lake. He was a member of the Regular Baptist Church in Clear Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Crabb of Clear Lake; one daughter, Brenda Easley of Des Moines; two stepchildren, Terry Holden of Prior Lake, Minn. and Lynn Burden and husband Bill of Owensborro, Ky.; one sister, Mary Bell Thompson and husband Bob of Salt Lake City, Utah; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren. and one step-great-grandson
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean Hayes; and a sister, Florence Klinge.
Visitation will be Friday. Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ward Van-Slyke Colonial Chapel. Memorials can be given to the Edwin E. Crabb Memorial Fund.
