Wayne Virgil Blades, age 85, of Verona, MO, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at the Ozark Methodist Manor in Marionville, MO. He was born February 27, 1932, in Verona, the son of the late R.T. & Ola {Conrad} Blades.

Wayne was a 1950 graduate of Verona High School, served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, was an electrician and a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aurora.

On September 20, 1952, he married Lois Alberta Newton, in Eureka Springs, AR. She preceded him in death on February 29, 2016.

Wayne is survived by two sons, David Blades of Verona and Steven Blades and his wife, Sylvia, of Terrell, TX; two daughters, Shirley Lee and her husband, Ben, of Bolivar, MO and Carolyn Blades of Terrell, TX; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Janet Brown of Crane, MO; one brother-in-law, Lowell Newton and his wife, Bertha, of Aurora, MO and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, R.T. & Ola, wife, Lois, sister, Eva Flanary and three brothers, Burton, Walter and Otto Blades, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Aurora. Burial followed at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Aurora in care of the funeral home.
