IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Floyd Marriott Morris, 89 of Idaho Falls, Idaho died Saturday at Eastern Idaho Regional Hospital after a long illness. Morris was born in Marriott, Utah, December 23, 1916, and was the last survivor of nine children of John Russell Morris and Margaret Marriott, half sister of Willard Marriott, founder of the Marriott hotel chain.
Morris grew up on an 80-acre farm near Marriott, Utah. He played basketball for the Mormon Men's Team while in High School, followed by two years at Weber College and two years at Utah State where Morris and his brother Clyde were basketball standouts. Floyd was named "all conference" several times in the Rocky Mountain Conference. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State.
In 1945, Floyd joined the Simplot-Deserets basketball team of the All American League, a precursor to professional basketball. The All American League covered the states of California, Utah, Idaho, Colorado and Oklahoma.
During and after his basketball career, Morris brokered potatoes throughout the Idaho, Oregon and Washington area independently and for the J.R. Simplot Company. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and Sigma Chi fraternity.
He is survived by his son, Kent of Idaho Falls; a daughter Kathleen (Ernest) Fischer of Minneapolis, granddaughters Meggin Sawyer of Woodbury, Minnesota and Dr. Gwen Fischer, of Thetford Center, Vermont, five great grand children, and two step grandsons, Damon and Nick Clifford of Idaho Falls. Floyd Morris is preceded in death by Burna, his wife of 62 years and a grandson, Bradley Scott Fischer.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, Idaho Falls, Idaho. In lieu of a memorial service, Floyd suggested donations to the American Heart Association.

My thanks to Find a Grave for the transfer. 7/23/2021 pfp
Note: Marriott and Slaterville were two unincorporated cities in Weber County, Utah, which were merged in 1999.
As of Thurs. 9/9/2021 have done more checking, plus put in a call and email to the funeral home in IF who might give me more info on disposition for Floyd, maybe even Burna, and Spider. Fingers crossed.
