Bernice Mae Akeman, 89, of Walshville died Monday, June 19, 2017, at 7:50 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center in Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Walshville Christian Church in Walshville. Visitation will be Friday June 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield.
Burial will be in the Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.
Mrs. Akeman was born on Dec. 10, 1927, in Walshville Township, the daughter of the late Lorenzo “Louis” Randle and Margaret Mae Hicks. She married Marshall Akeman on July 1, 1946, in Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1988.
She was a homemaker and worked for about 15 years in the laundry department at what is now Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Litchfield. She was a member of Walshville Christian Church.
Mrs. Akeman is survived by her children, Raymond (fiancee Amy Hancock) of Litchfield, Darrell (Gloria) Akeman of Waynesville and Donna (Don) Miller of Walshville; grandchildren, Paul (Michelle) Akeman of Clinton, Andrew Akeman of Columbia, MO, Adam (Katie) Akeman of Perkins, OK, Aaron (Leah) Akeman of Richardson, TX, and Sarah (James) Plybon of Branson, MO; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and brothers, Donald Randle and Charles (Francis) Randle of Litchfield.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline Bentley Faulkner, Lorene Lay, Lois Payne, Helen Vollintine, Wilma Priddle and Charlotte Titsworth; and brothers, Kenneth, Maurice and Shirley Randle.
The family suggests memorials to Walshville Christian Church or St. Louis Christian College.
