Funeral services for Lorine (Phillips) Noey, age 87, of Franklin and formerly of Marquez have been set for 10 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Burial will follow in the Brushy Cemetery located in the Flo Community of Leon County. A visitation is scheduled on Thursday, June 22nd from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home. Lorine Noey lived in Marquez for most of her life. She considered her main job to be a homemaker, mother and grandmother. However, she was very active in her community and, through the years worked several jobs. She was born April 28, 1930 in Flo, Texas just south of Buffalo. Her parents were John Alfred “Pete” and Lacie (Berry) Phillips. She graduated from Centerville High School and, as a young woman, enjoyed “rodeoing”. Later, she worked at the furniture factory in Mexia and, for several years, also helped in a restaurant business Marquez. At one time, she delivered commodities to the cafeterias of all of the school districts in Leon County. Family and friends said that Ms.Lorine loved playing bingo and often visited the casinos in Louisiana. She passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 in Bryan. Lorine Noey was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Mereda Mae Akin. Her surviving family includes her daughter, Dondi (Noey) Harris and her husband, Joe-Joe, of Marquez, two grandchildren, Laci Adams and her husband, Paul, of Marquez and Rowdi Harris of Marquez and two great granddaughters, Turbo Adams and Bodee Adams, both of Marquez. Paul Adams, Rowdi Harris, Casey Martin, James Spurlin, Rickey Fowler and Brandon Lehremann will serve as pallbearers. Services are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home.
