Mrs. Emogene "Jean" Oliver Jeter, left her earthly home and body and joined her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home.

Mrs. Jeter was born November 19, 1929 in Harrell AR, to James Edward Oliver and Susan Ioma Davis Oliver.

She graduated from Harrell High School as class Valedictorian in 1948. She didn't know what she would do, but God opened a door for her to move to El Dorado, AR and attended Nursing School. She graduated from Warner Brown School of Nursing in 1951 as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Jeter worked and trained under the Sisters of Mercy at Warner Brown Hospital. In her career she served as a head nurse on the 5th floor, caring for surgery patients and with Oncology patients administering chemotherapy. During these years, she served with great love and compassion, was a witness to many, and trained young nursing students. She loved being a nurse and was respected as one of the best in her field. She retired from nursing in 1992 after 40 years of dedicated service. In her retirement she continued to be "nurse" to all of her family and community, and was always a resource to anyone in need of medical attention or advice. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for over 60 years. Her greatest love was for Jesus Christ but she loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them, especially her great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, La Vance Jeter; brother, John Doyle Oliver; sister, Inez Rayborn and granddaughter, Shannon Ranee Jeter.
