Firman met Polly Nan Awalt at the Lake City Ammunition Plant and they were married in 1955. Together they had two sons Greg and Mark Arth. Firman and Polly moved to Kansas City and built the home in which they lived until 1997 when Firman downsized his property and built a new house on the other half of his land. Firman and Polly both worked at AT&T together where Firman was their painter for 28 years before he retired in 1989. In addition to painting, Firman had his own painting business, raised cattle, loved Dalmatians and always loved the thought of working overtime to make the time and a half and most importantly his love for the Catholic Church.
Firman was one of the most kind-hearted souls to others. Firman was always willing to help anyone in need, and always opened up his home to others, including all his children and their families. Firman was also blessed with the opportunity to raise his grandson Brett giving him the joy any grandfather needs.
Firman is preceded in death by his wife Polly who passed in 2014, his son Greg (2013) and daughter Vicki (2017). Funeral services to be held at Our Lady of the Presentation in Lee’s Summit Missouri, 130 NW Murray Road, Lees Summit Mo. 64081 on Tuesday June 20th, 2017 at 10:30AM, with a Rosary at 9:30AM.
