Mrs. Mary Pope died this morning at her home in Davenport, following an illness of several month's duration. The decedent was born on March 23, 1851, in New York, coming to this vicinity when about 6 years old.
She was married to Henry W. Pope on October 31, 1872, at Pleasant Valley. He died on February 19, 1893, and his widow moved to Davenport at that time. On January 20, 1921, she was married to her brother-in-law, George W. Washington.
Mrs. Pope is survived by her husband, G. W. Pope; one son, Frank E. of Davenport; a niece, Mrs. H. E. Simonsen of Rock Island, who was raised by her aunt; one granddaughter, Mrs. F. W. Richardson of Waterloo, Ia.; one sister, Mrs. F. W. Eldridge of Omaha, Neb.; and one brother, Alfred Allen of Davenport.
Funeral announcements will be made later.
