Venita G. Bowers, 86, of Horseshoe Bend, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Sept. 5, 1996, from a brain aneurysm.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Horseshoe Bend Ladies Club Hall. Burial will be in Horseshoe Bend Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction at Chapel, Emmett.
Venita was born Sept. 3, 1910, at Emmett, a daughter of Frank and Edith Shelley, one of six children. On Dec. 23, 1950. she married Frank Bowers, and had lived in Horseshoe Bend most of her life.
She took great pride in her yard, roses and garden, which she shared with all. She was a caring and active member of her community.
Venita, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. was a special person who humbly made it her duty to help and comfort anyone in need, and will be greatly missed by everyone.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Bowers; two sons, LaVerne and Vance Olsen; a daughter, Margaret Drake, all of Horseshoe Bend; two sisters, Marie West of Boise and Lois James of McKinleyville, Calif.; one brother, M.C. Shelley of Payette; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gerald Olsen; a son-in-law, Calvin Drake; and two brothers, Donald and Charley Shelley.
Her request would be that memorials be made to the Horseshoe Bend Mutual Improvement Club, of which she was a lifelong member.
