Services with graveside to follow for Willis Vernon Jones, 80, of Chapel Hill/Tyler are scheduled for Wednesday, 1 PM, June 21, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev Mike Ford and Rev Mike Bloodsworth officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery.

Vernon passed away June 17 in Tyler. He was born on August 9th 1936 in Golden Meadow, Louisiana to the late Eunice and Oliver Jones. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He officiated high school and junior college football and basketball games all across the state of Texas and was inducted into the Tyler SBOA Hall of Fame for officiating from 1963 to 1981. He retired from La Gloria Oil and Gas Company after working for 40+ years.

Vernon is survived by his wife Rhonda Jones, sons Luke and Michael, daughter Susan, brothers Dale, Jerry, and David, and sisters, Nora and Francis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son Mark and brother O.L.
