Charles L. "Chuck" Assink, 75, of Waterloo died at Covenant Medical Center on Friday, June 16, 2017 of natural causes.

He was born on March 19, 1942 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, son of Bernard and Agnes S. Christensen Assink. Chuck graduated from Cedar Falls High School, class of 1960.

He served in Sea Bees, United States Navy receiving an Honorable Discharge.

He married Linda E. Sturtz on June 12, 1965. She died October 4, 2016.

Chuck worked in construction for many years in Iowa and New Jersey, most notably at Assink Bros. Inc. He also co-owned NuCon Construction in Waverly.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, served on the board at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home (now NewAldaya Landscapes), and an active member of the Operating Engineers.

Chuck is survived by his two children: Karen Seiverd-Martin of Toms River, NJ and Mark (Tina) Assink of Egg Harbor City, NJ; four grandchildren: Kyle Seiverd, Faith Assink, Alyssa Assink, and Justin Assink; a great-grandson, Bryce Baumgartner; and two brothers, Gerald Assink of Lakeland, FL and Robert Assink of Cedar Rapids.

He is preceded in death by his wife and a son, Michael Charles Assink.

Services:
Memorial Services will be Friday, June 30, 2017 at the
Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.
Visitation:
Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:30pm Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Locke Funeral Home.
Cemetery:
Family inurnment with Military Honors will be held at the Orange Township Cemetery.
