Ina Gray Russell Ewing , 105, of Owensboro died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at the Carmel Home, where she resided for the past 10 years. She was born in Ohio County on July 14, 1902, to the late James Walter and Melinda Jane Twedell Gray . She is a longtime member of Third Baptist Church and attended regularly until the last several years. She was a member of the Senior Adult Fellowship and the Fidelis Sunday school class. She resided in Owensboro since 1941, and Mrs. Ewing worked at McAtee's Department Store for several years before going into the restaurant and grocery business. She always enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts, reading and working in her flower gardens. She married Orville William Russell in August 1918, and they raised six children. Mr. Russell died in 1971. In 1975, she married Henry Ewing , who died in 1985. She is also preceded in death by her two eldest sons and a stepson: retired Lt. Col. Dempsey R. Russell in 2001, Armel M. Russell in 2004, and Marvin Ewing ; and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her children Roy C. Russell of Bridge City, Texas, Marjorie Morgan and Gwendolyn Hutchinson, both of Owensboro, and Sophia Hull of Orlando, Fla.; a stepson, Joe Ewing of Owensboro; 29 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and more than 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
