Allan passed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2016, in his sleep, after a long fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
When Allan was in second grade, his family moved to Eugene, Ore., where he lived his young life. He graduated in 1970 from Sheldon High School in Eugene, spending his junior year at St. George's Academy in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His education continued with a Bachelor of Science in land use geography from the University of Oregon in 1974. In 1980, he earned his associate of applied science in radiologic technology from Portland Community College. He spent the next 35 years taking accurate X-rays and taking care of patients with his wit, warmth and kindness.
The son of professional musicians, Allan was surrounded by a variety of music from a young age. In the '60s, he discovered the electric guitar and was hooked for life. He also had a passion for cycling.
While living in Portland, he met his wife, Susan, in 1984 in the Rain Dance Velo Club. Susan and Allan were married in the Episcopal Church in Portland in 1987. Shortly thereafter, Annamarie and Thomas were born. In 2002, the Pearson family moved to Lewiston, where Allan worked at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center until 2015, when he was diagnosed with ALS.
We would like to thank the people of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, the employees of the SJRMC radiology department and all his friends who reached out to him so he wouldn't have to face this illness alone.
Survivors names omitted per findagrave policy.
A service was held Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, where Allan was laid to rest.
