John David Swiders Jr. of Palatine for three years Visitation for John David Swiders Jr., 81, formerly of Arlington Heights and Des Plaines, will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. A private inurnment will be held at Bayview Cemetery, in Necedah, Wis. Born April 4, 1929, in Chicago, he died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. John was a graduate of Lane Tech High School in Chicago, and then served in the Army. He worked for Bell & Howell until his retirement in 1991, and was an avid fisherman, bicyclist and sportsman. Survivors include his companion, Debra Vrabec; sister, Ruth (the late Richard) Huck of Des Plaines; nieces, Melody (Jerome) Siegler of Jasper, Ark., Diane Ippel of Ventura, Calif. and Naomi (Joe) Viso of Prospect Heights; great-nieces, Loretta (Michael) Gross, Marianne (Gary) Petersen, Janette (Kevin Shepherd) Baritsky, Carrie Baritsky and Rosalie Baritsky; great-nephew, Peter Ippel; three great-great-nieces; two great-great-nephews; and his beloved dog, Jumper.
