Rilo Lee Bingham, 92 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, June 12th, 2017 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Rilo was born in Barnesburg, Kentucky on September 13th, 1924, son of the late Boyd Lee and Lora B. Simpson Bingham. Rilo was a World War II United States Army Veteran serving in Anzio Beachhead, Italy, where he was wounded and returned to the States, having earned a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, European –African Middle Eastern Theatre, and Good Conduct Medals for his Valiant Service. He served the citizens of Pulaski County as County Jailer from 1950 until 1958.

Rilo was survived by one daughter, Lora L. (and Vearl) Hunt of Somerset, Kentucky; one son, Ronnie D. (and Pamela) Bingham of Somerset, Kentucky; two grandsons, Billy S. (and Dawn) Hunt of Martinsville, Indiana and Lindell R. (and Mary) Hunt of Bargersville, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Matthew (and Larissa) Hunt, Ashley (and Richard) Baker, and Kaitlyn Hunt, all of Martinsville, Indiana; one great-great granddaughter, Shiloh Baker; four sisters, Mary (and Edward) Akin, Lena Gilbert, Dorothy Colyer, and Karen (and Cooper) Stogsdill, all of Somerset, Kentucky; brothers, David (and Betty) Bingham of Somerset, Kentucky, and James R. Bingham, Brent M. Bingham, and Beeler P. Bingham, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd Lee Bingham, who departed this life on Dececember 22nd, 1986 and Lora Bingham, who departed this life on February 28th, 1995; his wife of 70 years, Wanda D. Adkins Bingham, whom he married on September 16th, 1944 and who departed this life on September 22nd, 2014; two sons, Lindell Lee Bingham and Barry Arthur Bingham; two brothers, John W. (and Bertie) Bingham and Finley C. Bingham; and one sister, Elizabeth (and W.C.) Wright.

Visitations were held from from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16th, 2017 at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16th, 2017 in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Brother Scotty Nix officiating.

Burial followed in the Pine Thicket Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
