Linda Yoakum Reed, 75, passed away in Houston, Texas on June 10, 2017 after a lengthy and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born August 12, 1941 in Port Arthur, Texas to Bradley and Gloria (Melancon) Yoakum, Linda was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and Lamar College. After earning her degree at Lamar College, Linda joined Jefferson Chemical, Texaco Chemical, and Huntsman Chemical and worked at the Port Neches, Texas, Chemical Plant. She retired from Huntsman in 1997 and moved to Katy, Texas, where she spent her retirement gardening and entertaining her four grandchildren. She was also an avid gardener and won several yard of the month awards.

All who knew her would agree Linda was a caring, easy-going, fun-loving, and generous person. Her greatest joys came from being with her loving husband Harry, adorable grandkids, family, friends, cooking, enjoying fine foods, and relaxing with a cup of Blue Bell ice cream. Linda got much joy from her four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and liked to take them shopping, out to eat and for an occasional swim in the neighborhood pool. Her grandchildren loved her very much and will miss her greatly.

She leaves behind her sons; Ken Reed and wife, Cherelle; Greg Reed and partner, David; four grandchildren; Jeri, Alex, Kallie, Brooks; five great grandchildren; Averi, Perseus, Raistlin, Ezra, and Alister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; Parents: Bradley Yoakum, Sr, Gloria Melancon Letulle, stepfather Clarence Letulle, and two brothers, Bradley and Pete Yoakum.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Katy Magnolia Cemetery, in Katy, with Rev. Daniel Schramm officiating.

The family would like to thank M.D. Anderson and Houston Hospice.

Those wishing to make memorial gifts may do so to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210; or to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030 for their exceptional care and compassion for Linda during her illness.
