Beloved husband, father, grandfather and true friend passed away at the SLC VA hospital in his loving wife's arms to return to our heavenly father on May 20, 2017.

He was born April 7, 1952 in Nebraska to Arden and Inez Mikkelson. He was the third eldest out of five children. He joined the LDS church during his young adult life. Served the army and became a MP. While in the army serving in Korea he met the love of his life (Okcha) that he had dreamt about when he was a child. He knew then that he had met the love of his life. They married on a military base in Korea on May 21, 1976. Eventually returning to the states to grow their family the following year.

He was a beloved man who was always there when you needed him. He loved his wife more than he loved himself. He knew he found his soulmate and loved her until his last breath. He was an amazing father who raised 3 loving children. He prided himself on being a wonderful grandfather and Papa. Always a lap to sit, someone to rough house and play with and a fixer of toys in Papa's workshop. He was truly an example of a great father, grandfather and friend. He was a hero and an incredible man who will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Okcha Mikkelson; his children, Mikkel (Andrea), Michelle (John) and Megan (Nathan); nine grandchildren; eight granddaughters; and one grandson; sisters LaDonna Troutman (Don) and Laura O'Sullivan (John).

Funeral services held Saturday, May 27, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at the LDS ward located at 6710 West 4145 South West Valley City UT 84128. Burial took place on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale, UT 84065.
