Mr. Herman Bielfeld Brust Jr., 82, of Middletown, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Jeannette Rudy Brust.

Born in Frederick on June 25, 1928, he was a son of the late Herman B. Sr., and Myrtle Tritapoe Brust.

He was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1945 and served in the Army National Guard, Company A, 29th Division.

Mr. Brust was the owner and operator for many years of Automotive Industrial Inc. on East Patrick Street, Frederick.

Herman was a car enthusiast and collector. He was a member and past president of the Francis Scott Key Antique Car Club of Frederick, and a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He was a charter member of the Associated Locksmiths of America. He was a member of the Vintage Aircraft Association and loved flying. Herman was past president of the Frederick County Historical Society and also a member of the Brook Hill United Methodist Church and former member of the church choir.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are his children, Susan Brust Silk and husband, James, of Bethesda, Herman B. Brust III and wife, Emily, of Baltimore, Kimberly Brust Southard and husband, Roy, of Greensboro, N.C., Donna Shafer of Hanover, Pa., Philip Shafer and wife, Michele, of Brunswick, and Ellen Baker of Frederick; two sisters, Myrtle "Beth" Parenteau of Frederick, and his twin sister, Nora May "Terry" Morton of Silver Spring; grandchildren, Katherine Silk, John Silk, Ashley Patterson, Tiffany Shafer, Bryana Patterson, Andrew Shafer, Curtis Baker, Lucas Shafer and Zachary Shafer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be remembered by his former wife, Joan Metcalf Allen, of Brookings, Ore.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Brust Moresburger. (*Morsberger)

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, and Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, from Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth W. Walker, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Linda A. Warehime, associate pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
