On May 11, 1928, the death angel visited our home and took away our dear husband and father, Lawrence Washington Parker. He had been in lingering health for several years but had not been seriously ill until he was stricken with paralysis Thursday pm about 4:00 o'clock on May 10. He lived about twenty hours after he was stricken never regaining consciousness.
Mr. Parker was born June 3, 1857, having made his stay on earth 70 years, 11 months and 8 days. He was married to Phoebe Whitehead, daughter of Alexander and Rebecca Kennady Whitehead, on December 27, 1877. They were married 42 years during which time five sons and four daughters were born. All are living with the exception of three sons, Charlie Washington Parker, Moses Covington Parker and Alter Cody Parker.
After the death of his first wife, Mr. Parker married Eva Lomineck on January 18, 1920. At the time of his death they had two small children. He was a kind, affectionate father and a loving husband.
Mr. Parker was a true and faithful member and clerk of the Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church and always did his best for the upbuilding of his church. He was always there except when he was sick or providentially hindered. He was a Mason and was buried with Masonic honors.
