Marie B. Adams, 84, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Born in Konnarock, Va., September 3, 1922, the daughter of the late William Francis Blevins and Maggie Hayes Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Adams, Jr.; two sisters, Ruby Blevins, Jiney Walton; and four brothers, Everett, Roy, Paul and Ben Blevins. She was the last surviving member of her family. She retired from Johnson Foods in 1982 and is a member of Roanoke Valley Baptist Temple. She was a loving mother and wife, taking care of her husband until he passed in 1995. She was always there for her children and grandchildren. She was the heart of our family. Those left and surviving is son, Mitchell (Red) Adams and wife, Carol, of Roanoke; daughter, Joan Sowers and husband, Howard, of Roanoke; granddaughter, Tonya Lynskey and husband, Nelson, of Franklin County; grandson, J. R. Adams of Roanoke; two great grandchildren, Caleb Lynskey and Madison Adams; brother-in-law, D. J. Adams of Chilhowie, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Blevins of Roanoke and Louise Catron of Marion, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Lotz Vinton Chapel with Pastor Gene Koger officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, June 22, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.
